Breast Asymmetry Correction Before & After Case 23
*Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
Before & After
Case Details
This patient came in with her mother for consideration of her severe breast asymmetry. She had a clear case of tuberous breast deformity. Her mother was concerned that she was feeling very self conscious and was becoming increasingly depressed. Her once sweet and happy child was beginning to display destructive behaviors. She was seeing a psychiatrist who felt that some of these behaviors were linked to her dissatisfaction with her appearance. Under supervision of her mental health professional, she had her deformity corrected. Soon after her asymmetry was corrected, her family noticed a quick reversal of her troubling trends. She began to re-engage with friends, dress more appropriately for age and removed her piercings and was back to herself according to her mother. I saw her about 5 years after the surgery. She was a happy and well adjusted young lady. She had finished high school and was in community college working toward her degree. Could we ever say that this was because of a breast reconstruction? Probably not completely, but there is no doubt that a feeling of well being was restored after she felt better about her appearance.
