Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process. If you’re looking to soften these signs of aging without surgery, you should consider Belotero Balance dermal filler, a new treatment we’re offering at Dr. Collins’ office.
Belotero is a hyaluronic acid-based facial filler that can instantly hydrate and plump volume-deficient regions on your face and neck. Once it is injected, it instantly plumps the skin and smooths the lines and corrects facial wrinkles.
Who Should Get Belotero?
Belotero is an FDA cleared treatment indicated for moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Good candidates for Belotero have:
- Wrinkles around the eyes known as crow’s feet
- Smile and laugh lines
- Horizontal neck creases
- Under eye wrinkles and depressions
Hyaluronic Acid, the active ingredient in Belotero, is a naturally occurring substance found in the human body. Unlike fillers of the past, it is free of animal proteins, making it an incredibly safe, biocompatible product for all skin types. The best candidates for treatment are healthy and motivated to improve their appearance.

What Does Belotero Do?
Belotero is a quick outpatient procedure (meaning you’ll be able to return home the same day as your treatment) that can be completed in a few minutes. Your face will be cleansed with an antiseptic prior to treatment, and if needed, we can also apply a numbing cream for additional comfort.
Using a very fine needle, we inject small amounts of Belotero into targeted areas. After an injection, we gently massage the treatment areas to promote a smooth result. An icepack may also be placed across the treatment sites to reduce swelling.
After Belotero: What to Expect
Belotero is a minimally invasive treatment and no downtime is necessary. You should be able to resume your normal routine right away. The treatment sites will be somewhat sensitive, so you should avoid direct sun exposure for the first day or two and follow all post-treatment instructions. Some slight swelling or redness may also be present, but should resolve in a few days.
Visible improvements can be seen right away and will be visible for up to one year. Belotero provides a smooth result, so you can anticipate very natural-looking appearance. Most patients choose to have follow-up treatments every 6 to 12 to maintain their new look.
Possible side effects associated with Belotero are typically mild and temporary. You may experience some redness, swelling, itching and tenderness. The risk of lumps forming after treatment is minimal and no cases have been reported yet. During your visit, we will discuss all of the pertinent risks and safety information about Belotero.
