What is Halo™?
Part of the renowned family of Sciton® lasers, Halo™ is a hybrid fractional laser that can be customized to treat a broad range of aesthetic imperfections. Halo™ treatments can be as strong or as gentle as you would like them, and provide all of our patients great results with minimal amounts of downtime.
How Does it Work?
Halo™ laser treatments are so effective because they can deliver both ablative and nonablative wavelengths to treatment areas. With just one machine, you can receive treatments specifically for the epidermis, or stimulate greater healing by targeting the deeper dermal layers.
More extensive treatments rejuvenate and renew the skin by focusing concentrated laser energy into its deepest layers. Once the laser energy reaches the root layers of the skin, it begins to heat them up, damaging them. This damage triggers your body’s natural, healing response. Collagen, elastin, and other growth factors flood the area, building a new, stronger layer of skin. The upper layer of the skin can also be targeted during these procedures, so that all depths of the treatment area are being attended to.
Less aggressive Halo™ treatments can just focus on the upper layers of the skin, or target the lower layers less intensely.
What Can Halo™ Treat?
Because the Halo™ hybrid fractional laser is so customizable, it can be used to tackle the signs of aging from many different angles. All Halo™ fractional laser treatments help improve the appearance of:
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin tone
- Rough texture
- Enlarged pores
More aggressive Halo™ treatments can be used to soften the appearance of fine lines and scars.
What Can I Expect from Treatment?
Since each Halo™ treatment can be carefully customized, everyone has a slightly different experience with treatment. However, typically a topical anesthetic is administered before treatment begins to improve the comfort of the procedure. Patients describe feeling a warm, prickling sensation during treatment.
Dr. Collins strongly advises patients to keep their skin protected for the first 24 hours following treatment. The skin may begin to peel after the first 24 hours after aggressive treatments. People who undergo gentle facial treatments usually will start to peel by day three. While the first results begin to appear between 2-5 days after treatment, results will continue to improve and become more noticeable as time passes.
Halo™ laser treatments are an excellent way to get fantastic skin rejuvenation results without extensive downtime. Contact Beth Collins MD today for more information about this exciting procedure or to schedule your first consultation appointment.
